Did Betfair really go down?

Iain claims that Betfair went down. Read below:

Iain writes

"Let me put the record straight. I did run a trading service a fewyears back using my real name IAIN LEWINGTON. The service was very profitable at first and I made a lot of money for myself and my members. A problem arose when I placed a large win bet on a short priced horse on Betfair. When I went to lay the horse to lock in a profit Betfair went down due to an attck on there servers. The race was run and the horse finished 2nd losing a large sum of money. I provided members with proof of the bet placed and proof that the Betfair website did go down. Most members never lost out as they had made significant profits before hand but yes some did. Those that did were either refunded by me or received charge backs on there credit cards".

Iain states that Betfair went down due to an "attack on there servers", and claims he provided proof that Betfair went down. He also says most members did not lose money but no members will verify this as all members did in fact lose money.

However no members verify this comment above.

A fairer way to assess this will be to email Betfair directly. Those of you who have lost money please can you email Betfair and verify that Iain placed the bets. Explain to Betfair the service tht Iain ran and his claim that Betfair went down.

I have even drafted an email for you to send. Copy and paste this to Betfair and lets ask them:

Dear Betfair

I am emailing you about an association with Iain Lewington of 20 Beecham Place St Leonards on SeaEast Sussex TN38 9BP. Iain set up a service called Abacus Racing where he said £300 in £100 shares which would be used to make risk free trades. The initial investment can be returned at anytime in full when requested. He stated that "As long as we predict which way the odds will move thenwe win money. We are not going to divuldge how we know this but our success rate is 100%".

He told us to send him money and he managed it for us in Betfair. When he lost all our money he ignored several hundred emails and made a claim that Betfair was attacked by hackers and that Betfair went down. I have tried emailing Iain so many times for my money but he keeps blaming it on Betfair.

Are you holding my money or is Iain? Who is responsible?

I have also been told that lots of these people who gave money to Iain in Abacus racing have now got their money back as he was running an illegal service. They all spoke to their solictors and Iain refunded them in the end.

Please can you tell me if Betfair really did go down and if Iain placed these bets that he said he did. Can you also tell me if it was legal the service he was offering and how I can get my money back.

Thanking you
